A 🖼 picture is worth a thousand words, and there are thousands of open images that we can use to enhance the entries for millions of words. If we have a picture of a "lemon", that image can illustrate the concept in any linked language. However, does that picture attach to a fruit or to a defective car? Computer algorithms will usually revolve around the most common meaning of a term. We need to build special visual 🐥📊 DUCKS to align image sets with the correct meanings of the terms they are tagged with. For 📱 mobile devices, users should be able to upload 🖼 pictures of things they see to the relevant entries, on the spot, with geo-tags; this functionality needs to be embedded as an extension of our existing mobile app. We also need a permissions and review mechanism for 👪 people who share their own images, either from their computers or their phones, to grant us usage rights and vet that the 🖼 pictures are appropriate. Our biggest struggle is keeping Kamusi online and keeping it free. We cannot charge money for our services because that would block access to the very people we most want to benefit, the students and speakers of languages around the world that are almost always excluded from information technology. So, we ask, request, beseech, beg you, to please support our work by donating as generously as you can to help build and maintain this unique public resource.
Answers to general questions you might have about Kamusi services.
